Oba-elect distances self from land grabber’s activities

Oba-elect of Akinlowo Olaife Royal family in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, Babatunde Ismaila Ahmed, has distanced himself from activities of one Alhaji Abdul-Rauf Tijani, who he alleged was a notorious land grabber whose activities in Shasha area should be condemned by well-meaning Nigerians resident in the area.

The Oba-elect made this known when he addressed members of the press in his palace in Lagos recently.

In a two-page petition addressed to the Honorable Attorney General/ Commissioner for Justice for Lagos State, which he read to pressmen, he noted that he was constrained to make the following clarifications over the actions of hoodlums as well as that of Alhaji Abdul Tijani in recent times.

He averred that the suit instituted at the Federal High Court in Lagos some months ago relates to the fundamental enforcement proceedings, for the protection of the fundamental rights of himself and that of the 2nd, 3rd and 5th applicants over the harassment and intimidation by the 1st and 6th respondents, the Inspector- General of Police and the Commissioner of Police (SFU) at the behest of the 10th and 11th respondents, Oba Babatunde Akanbi Lawal and Tajudeen Usman Akano, respectively.

He also averred that the said suit, is a fallout of the tussle over the kingship of Shasha community, in the Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos State and not claims of ownership of any sort, as being paraded by the 7th applicants Alhaji Abdul Rauf Tijani and his agents and so he detest the actions of the 7th applicant herein, in his bid to wrestle possession from occupants of Millennium estate Afonka, Shasha without lawful justifications or colour of title whatsoever.

He revealed that soon after the 7th applicant invaded the estate aforesaid as well as other properties belonging to his ancestral family, Akinlowo Olaife family from time immemorial, a section of the family took steps to forestall the illegal claims aforesaid noting that the matter is still pending in court in suit No (ID/1632LMW/2015) against the 7th applicant in that regard.

The Oba-elect noted that the actions and inaction of Alhaji Tijani by stationing hoodlums and miscreants who have caused residents of millennium estate Afonka both bodily harm and loss of properties as unfortunate and regrettable stressing that Tijani has no business medley in a property that belonged to the Akinlowo Olaife Royal Family of Shasha as he is not related in any manner with the royal family.
